General Notes: Husband - Thomas E. McCrea


He was born in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, and was reared and educated in Butler County, remaining at home until twenty years of age. He then he went to Petroleum Centre, and there worked at the oil wells. For two years he was superintendent for an oil company. In 1875 and 1876 he was constable and assessor and collector of taxes in Donegal township, Butler County. In 1877 he removed to Bradford, and was there engaged in the oil business for some time, and long retained an interest in that industry. For two years he was in the employ of a gas company as inspector; for nine years he was on the police force, and later was chief of the department. Mr. McCrea and his family were members of the Catholic Church. In politics he was a Democrat.

He was born in Franklin Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania. [GPHNP, 35]
He was an oil worker; came to Bradford, Pennsylvania, where he served on the police force for seven years, and was appointed chief of police by Mayor Edward McSweeney. For a time he was a hotel proprietor in Buffalo, New York, and was afterwards deputy sheriff at Erie, Pennsylvania, being killed while taking prisoners from Erie to the penitentiary at Pittsburgh.
