Cemetery inscriptions indicate a year of birth in 1791.
He died in 1857. [HVC 1879, 198]
He was a farmer below Utica, in French Creek Township, Venango County, Pennsylvania. He and his wife were members of the Mill Creek Presbyterian church.

He settled on a 400-acre tract adjoining the old Duffield homestead on the south. He was a soldier of the War of 1812, serving as Ensign in Lieut. John Martin's command, the 6th com-pany, 132d Reg't Pa. Militia, Col. Samuel Dale. He was also Lieutenant of a company under Gen. Harrison in the campaign against the Indians in Ohio and Indiana.
