General Notes: Husband - Oliver Calvin Alexander

He remained on the paternal farm until his twenty-second birthday; taught and studied alternately. Studied medicine with Dr. McClay, of Milroy, Pennsylvania, and after attending medical lectures in Albany, New York, graduated honorably in 1854. His tastes and talents being remarkably versatile, he employed them with considerable success in various studies and arts, as drawing, painting, sculpture, and mechanics.
He commenced medical practice in 1854, which he continued for twenty years or more. Office, 66 Eagle street, Albany, New York. As an earnest Christian worker, Dr. Alexander was the instrument of consolation and salvation to many souls, especially among the poor, widows, the neglected and afflicted ones who were deprived of the ordinary privileges of the sanctuary. Among these he held meetings for lay-preaching, exhortation and prayer with much interest and spiritual profit. Both in his medical practice and in Christian effort for their spiritual welfare, he distinguished himself as a friend and benefactor of the poor.
