General Notes: Husband - John Albert Dufford

He received a good literary education, pursuing his higher studies at Mount Union College, Alliance, Ohio, from which institution he was graduated in 1897. Meantime he had been engaged in teaching, which profession he followed in his native county and for two years in Ohio. He took his course in pharmacy at Philadelphia, in 1899-1900, and having passed the examination of the Pennsylvania State board of pharmacy entered upon work in his chosen line in Pittsburgh, where he had a store of his own for six months before his removal to Clintonville. In 1914 Mr. Dufford erected the building in which the business is now [1919] conducted, located on a central corner in the borough and arranged especially for the requirements of the stock and trade. He has always endeavored to carry full and well selected lines of the class of goods that he handles, and no other store in this section has a better reputation for prompt and obliging service to its patrons. Mr. Dufford has been scrupulous about repaying the loyalty of his customers by giving them the best the trade affords, and the friendly relations which exist between them are as gratifying to him as his material success.
The family is associated with the United Presbyterian Church. Socially Mr. Dufford is affiliated with the Masonic lodge at Emlenton, and he also maintains his membership in the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, to which he was admitted while a student of Mount Union College. [CAB, 1061]
