General Notes: Husband - Samuel Alexander


He was born and reared on a farm, and received his education at the public schools and at the normal school of Mansfield, Pennsylvania. From Aug. 22, 1862, until the close of the rebellion, he was a soldier in the service of his country. He enlisted in Co. D, 149th P. V. I., and was in the principal battles in which his regiment participated, among which may be mentioned Gettysburg, Chancellorsville, the Wilderness, etc.
He was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church; politically he was a republican.
