General Notes: Husband - Coulter Hoffman

He grew up at his birthplace, obtaining his education in the local schools. For several years he lived in Butler County, spending his early married life there, about 1880 returning to Venango County and establishing his home at the farm later owned and occupied by his son Perry E. Hoffman. It was given to his wife by her father. The property comprised one hundred acres, and though it had been cleared once it had been allowed to relapse to a wild state, so that Mr. Hoffman had to do the work over again. He brought it under cultivation, and also put up the buildings now [1919] standing thereon, erecting the barn thirty-two years ago and the house twenty-three years ago. Mr. Hoffman was actively engaged in farming until his wife's death, when he turned the work over to his son Perry, but he continued to live on the farm until the fall of 1916, since when he has resided in Grove City.
