General Notes: Husband - Alexander Bailey Duvall

He received a subscription-school education, and grew to manhood on the home farm, working the old place on shares until the death of his father.
The old homestead contained 210 acres of well-cultivated land, and was universally admitted to be one of the finest farms in Washington County. In 1875 Mr. Duvall erected a handsome two-story house on the property, commanding a beautiful landscape view for many miles, carrying the eye to the mountain beyond. He was also the owner of another tract of seventy-one acres in East Pike Run Township.
Beginning in 1852 he was a member of the F. & A. M. at Coal Centre. He worshipped at the Disciple Church, his wife being identified with the Methodist Episcopal denomination.
At the time of his death he was president of the Peoples Bank of California, Pennsylvania.

He spent his youth on the farm, attended the subscription schools of the township and later worked the home farm on shares. He became a man of affluence and his farm consisting of 210 acres was one of the finest in the township, and in 1875 he erected a fine two-story residence, which stood on a slight elevation and commanded a fine view of the surrounding country for many miles. He was also the owner of another tract of seventy-one acres in East Pike Run Township.
