General Notes: Husband - Jefferson P. Duvall


He remained on the old place during his youth, securing a common-school education. In early life he learned and followed the trade of millwright, and then ran a gristmill near Coal Centre for several years.
He owned a farm of one hundred acres, the place was known among the old settlers as the old Bedall homestead. He also owned 186 acres in another tract in East Pike Run township. In politics he was a Republican, and served as school director. He was a charter member of the F. & A. M. Lodge, No. 461, Coal Centre, and held the office of junior warden; his first membership in the Fraternity was in 1862 at Brownsville, PA. He and his wife were members of the M. E. Church.

He was reared on his father's farm in East Pike Run Township, where he remained until 1866, when he located on another farm in the same township. He began living on a farm of 130 acres in Fallowfield Township, in 1893, and also owned two farms of 100 and 185 acres, in East Pike Run Township. He was a director in the Bank of Charleroi, also the Bentleyville National Bank, was a stockholder in the California, Pennsylvania, Bank. Beginning in 1862 he was a member of the Masonic fraternity.
