He served as a minister among the Mennonites for many years, up to the time of his death. He retained the old mansion place, at Hammer creek, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, the greater portion of his life, and afterwards moved to Washington County, Maryland, where he later died.
He left four sons and one daughter.
