General Notes: Husband - Harry Hoke

He was born in the town of McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania, December 15th, 1859, where he attended school and learned the trade of cabinet making. He worked at that trade for some time in the employ of the Pennsylvania Railroad at its shops in Altoona, in the car building department, later going to Allegheny City and working in the railroad shops there for a short time. Entering the employ of the Joseph Horne store, Mr. Hoke, at the age of thirty-four years, became head buyer and manager of the trunk department of that concern and held that post for thirteen years prior to his death. Apparently in strong, vigorous health, Mr. Hoke was taken ill with what was thought to be a simple though painful affliction, but on being taken to the hospital for an operation, his trouble was found to be of a very serious nature and he died immediately after the operation from the effects of the disease, at the Bellevue Suburban Hospital, December 28th, 1907, in Avalon, Pennsylvania.
