General Notes: Husband - Robert Ellwood

Prior to the Revolutionary war he and a brother sailed from the shores of Erin and came to America, where he settled in New Jersey and his brother went farther west into the then unsettled wilds, after which time he and his descendants, if any, were entirely lost to the other branch of the family.
He served seven years with Washington in the war of the Revolution. He used to relate that after the battle of the Brandywine that stream was so full of dead Hessians that one could walk across the stream on them without wetting his feet. More Hessians than British were killed because the English put their hired troops in front. After the war he immigrated to western Pennsylvania and settled on a tract of land near Murrysville, which was later owned by John W. Ellwood of Franklin township.

General Notes: Wife - [Unk] Stoops
