General Notes: Husband - J. Bernard Evans

He spent his boyhood days at Brownsdale, PA, and there attended the public schools. At the age of seventeen years he went to Butler, which was then a small place, and learned the carpenter trade under Malcomb Graham, with whom he worked for three years. He then worked a few years in the planing mill of S. G. Purvis, and nine years in that of the Edward Dambach Company at Evans City. In 1893, he embarked in the marble and granite business, purchasing the shop of Charles Marshall.

He was a Mason, belonging to the Blue Lodge and Chapter at Butler, and the Commandery at Greenville. He was a Republican in politics, as were the earlier members of the family after the organization of that party. In religious attachment he was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
