He located in Greenville, Pennsylvania, in 1847, and engaged in the furniture, undertaking and cabinet business. He used a water wheel for power, for six years, intending to introduce a fifteen foot overshot wheel.

Civil War: he was in Company I, 206th Pennsylvania volunteers, about one year.
