General Notes: Husband - Oliver Evans, Sr.

He was educated for the medical profession at the University of Pennsylvania, but ill health overturned his plans and he was, all his active life, engaged in farming. He lived on the Hill farm, overlooking McKeesport, an estate inherited from his father. There he lived a quiet, retiring life, a good business man, managing well his affairs and was universally esteemed. Both he and his wife were members of the Presbyterian Church of McKeesport, which he served as trustee all his mature life.

He was reared and educated in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, and studied the higher languages with his brother-in-law, Dr. Robert McClellan, of Mercer, Pennsylvania, with a view of taking up medicine as a profession, but on account of ill health abandoned it and was all his life a farmer.
