Thomas F. Exley, 77, a resident of Pone Lane, Franklin RD 1, died at 5 a.m. Monday in Port Arthur, Tex.
Mr. Exley, a veteran of World War I and a former employe of the Atlantic Refining Co., left with his wife Dec. 6 to make his home at 5021 Procter St. in Port Arthur for the winter months.
He was born in Van May 29, 1894, a son of John and Annie Hagerty. He spent his early life in Van and attended the public school there.
Mr. Exley spent considerable time in the oil fields of Oklahoma, Indiana, and Ohio before accepting a job with the Atlantic Refining Co. He worked for the firm for some 25 years. both in Franklin and later in Port Arthur after the company transferred its operation.
He returned to Franklin in 1942 and worked for the Geneva Ordnance until it closed. After that time he worked on the Smith oil lease in Clintonville until his retirement 10 years ago.
A World War I veteran, he served with the Motor Transportation Corps of the U.S. Army as a sergeant.
Mr. Exley attended the East Grove United Methodist Church.
He was married Sept. 5, 1919, to the former Vera I. Ziegler. She died Jan 28, 1968.
He then married the former Maude Rumberger Ritchey on Oct. 30, 1970.
His wife survives, along with two sons, Roy Eugene Exley of Texas City, Tex.; and Vern R. Exley of Franklin; a daughter, Mrs. Leon J. Deslatte of Franklin; a step-son,
Paul Ritchey of Nederland, Tex.; 10 gradnchildren; two brothers, James K. Exley of Franklin and John Exley of Curwensville; and two sisters, Mrs. Ralph E. Ziegler and Miss Helen Exley of Van.
Funeral - Frank S. Huff Chapel with Rev. Clayton D. Harriger, pastor of the East Grove United Methodist Church officiating.
Interment - Sunset Hill Memorial Garden
