General Notes: Husband - John W. Eyster


From Erie, Pennsylvania, he was engaged in railroading, but was drowned in a storm on the lake while on a pleasure trip; his widow then resided with her father in Ridgway.

He was a veteran of the civil war: Enlisting in the Sixty-second Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, he was mustered in February 1, 1862, as a member of Company I. He was wounded, and was afterward transferred to Company I, One Hundred and Fifty-fifth regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. On surgeon's certificate he was discharged, January 13, 1865. After the war he became a well known railroad man. He was a member of Elk Lodge, No. 379, Free and Accepted Masons, Ridgway; the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, at Erie, Pennsylvania; the Grand Army of the Republic, at Erie; the Knights of Honor; and the Knights of Pythias. While he was on a fishing trip on Lake Erie he was drowned.


General Notes: Wife - Agnes Elizabeth Luther


Her education was received in the schools of Ridgway, Elk County, Pennsylvania. Having learned the millinery business, she was engaged therein on her own account at Ridgway beginning in 1902. She was a member of the Presbyterian church.
