General Notes: Husband - Col. Lawrence Muse

The progenitors of the Muse family were of Welsh blood.

He was a veteran of the French and Indian wars, residing near Winchester, Virginia.

The first of the Muse family to immigrate to America, he [James Muse] came from the north of England, where long resided many of the same name, who were extensive real estate owners. The date of his arrival in America is not known, but he located in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, in or about 1754, and into the twentieth century there yet resided in that county many of his descendants, who were successful and prosperous. [BOB37JD, 582]

Colonel Lawrence Muse, a friend of General Washington, came from Virginia to Pennsylvania, in 1766. Colonel Muse was a descendant of an English sire, who came to Virginia in the earlier day, and were long extensive planters and slave owners. Colonel Lawrence Muse married Betsey Fauntleroy, said to have also been loved by General Washington.

General Notes: Wife - Elizabeth "Betsey" Fauntleroy

After the death of her first husband, she remained single for some time, then married again, and with her second husband and son Fauntley came to Pennsylvania. They located on a tract near the village of Boston, on the Youghiogheny river, in Allegheny County.
