General Notes: Husband - Josiah Lesher

He was reared on the farm and was educated in the common schools of Franklin County, Pennsylvania. When he reached manhood he made a trip to Ohio where he spent five months with his uncle Lewis. In the spring of 1865 he began farming his father's place and remained so engaged until 1891, when he removed to Greencastle. He had also been extensively engaged in the sale of farm machinery. For several years he remained out of the business, but in 1896 he and his son succeeded to the stove and hardware business of C. R. Hoover, under the firm name of J. Lesher & Son. This business was one of general hardware, including roofing and plumbing and was prominent among the successful houses of Greencastle. Mr. Lesher served on the borough council for some years.
