General Notes: Husband - Johnson McCartney

He was educated in the common schools in the pioneer cabins, and learned the trade of a shoemaker, which occupation he followed during the winters, in connection with his farming, for many years. He learned his trade in Youngstown, Ohio. He was the owner of a fine farm of eighty-eight acres, the result of his energy, economy and frugal dealings. He was a Republican and a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, while his estimable wife belonged to the Presbyterian Church of Sandy Lake. [HMC 1888, 1114]
