Dennis Feltenberger Succumbs In Erie
NORTH EAST - Dennis Verde Feltenberger of North East RD 3, a former resident of the Oil City-Franklin area, died Saturday in the Hamot Medical Center after a brief illness. He was 68.
Born July 4, 1905, in Coal City, Rockland Township, he was the son of John Clinton Feltenberger and the late Emma Pryor Feltenberger.
He lived in Greenfield Township, near North East, for 26 years.
He was a retired employe of General Electric. He and his wife owned and operated the Feltenberger General Store and Garage in Little Hope, near North East.
Mr. Feltenberger was active as a volunteer fireman in the North East area. He was a charter and an honorary member of the Greenfield Volunteer Fire Department. Also, he was a charter member of the Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department.
He was a member of the Erie and Crawford auxiliary police unit and an Erie County deputy sheriff.
A past member of the Oil City Motorcycle Club, he also held honorary memberships in the Hollywood (Calif.) Motorcycle Club and the Erie Motorcycle Club.
He also was a past president of the Erie County Beekeepers Association.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, the former Charlotte Way; one son, Dennis Clyde Feltenberger of Conneaut, Ohio; and daughter, Mrs. Leland (Ruth Ann) Wirtner of Wattsburg, and two grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Miss Hertha Feltenberger and Mrs. L. J. (Hester) Larsen of Franklin; and one brother, Clinton Smith Feltenberger of Wesleyville.
Two brothers, Merle and Chester, preceded Mr. Feltenberger in death.
Friends will be received at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home in North East from 2-4 and 7-9 pm today.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Cyrus Moorehead officiating.
Interment will be in the Wattsburg Cemetery.
