General Notes: Husband - Elijah J. Reed

He enlisted for service in the Civil War, June, 1863, in Co. E, 11th Regt.; was wounded at Fire Forks, Virginia, also at the Wilderness and Petersburg.

He enlisted in Company E, Eleventh Regiment, Penna. Volunteers, and was said to be the youngest soldier to carry a musket in the state. His corps (the 5th), in four consecutive days, beginning March 29, 1865, lost 328, 182, 1460 and 634 men; in all 2,604 brave men. It goes without saying that he saw some of the hottest action of the war. Later he wrote a history of three or four battles in which the 5th Corps alone was engaged against odds.
He married and they had a store in Latrobe, Westmoreland County.
