General Notes: Husband - Henry L. Westermann

He came from Prussia to America in 1849 to avoid being drafted in the army, in which he had already served three years. He located at Brady's Bend, Pennsylvania, and engaged in coal mining for a short time and then entered the store of the Brady Iron Manufacturing Company. In 1856, he came to Millerstown, Butler County, and purchased of the Reibers their store and stock of goods, and success immediately crowned his efforts, and he became one of the leading merchants of the place. He was not only involved in mercantile pursuits, but in banking, oil producing, and occupied prominent positions in borough municipal affairs.

He was a native of Prussia, came to the United States in 1847, and located at Brady's Bend, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, where he found employment in a store. In 1856 he removed to Millerstown, and engaged in merchandising, which he carried on successfully until 1879, when he retired from business. He was also interested in oil producing.
