General Notes: Husband - Adam Fisher

He was in all probability a native of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, whence he emigrated about 1790 to Westmoreland County, settling on the farm in Mt. Pleasant township. He was connected with the German Reformed church and politically was a democrat. [BHCWC, 447]

He immigrated to America [from Germany] and settled in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, whence he removed at a very early day to Mt. Pleasant township, Westmoreland County, where he followed farming, owning several hundred acres of land. In 1801 he built the first brick house in the county, making the brick for it himself, and helping as mason and carpenter to erect the building. This old relic of the beginning of the nineteenth century was still standing in 1890 and was still owned by the Fisher family. Mr. Fisher was a democrat and a follower of Jefferson, the founder of that party. He married and became the father of three sons and one daughter. [BHCWC, 449]

He was the first of the Fisher name to come to Westmoreland County and there settled on a farm, a portion of which became the site of the town of United. It was situated on what was later a brick road from the town of United to Mount Pleasant. His farm consisted of about two hundred acres, which was transferred from John Penn, Jr., to William Ringle and from him to Adam Fisher. [ONW, 1162]
