General Notes: Husband - Morrison Flatt

After receiving a practical education in the district schools he assisted his father in the mill; at that time his father had two mills, one located in the village and the other in Elk township, Warren County, on the opposite side of the river. He continued to follow lumbering until the forests were almost all cut down, and then engaged in agricultural pursuits on his farm of 90 acres, which he had purchased some time previously. Besides carrying on general farming, he gave much time and attention to stock-raising and dairying; he always had a herd of fine cattle, which was a source of great pride to him and the envy of his neighbors.
He did a large business during the oil excitement by building barges and manufacturing lumber for oil fields. He was a Republican and took an intelligent interest in party affairs, serving as collector and as commissioner for his township. He was a consistent member of the Methodist Church, and a valued member of the Masonic fraternity.
