General Notes: Husband - Samuel Fleming

He came to Venango County, Pennsylvania, in 1798 with his mother and three of his brothers; two other brothers having settled there two years previous. He bought a claim six miles south of Titusville, on the hill east of Oil creek, originally taken up by Jacob Richards, who had cleared several acres and planted a small orchard. After marriage, he turned his attention to the clearing and improvement of his farm, and as a successful farmer and lumberman acquired a substantial competence. He was drafted for service in the war of 1812, but exempted on account of sickness. Politically he was a Democrat, and with his wife was a pioneer member of the Pleasantville Baptist Church.
His daughter Sarah was the eldest of eleven children.
