General Notes: Husband - William Etter Foltz


He was educated in the public schools and at Mercersburg College. He learned the printing trade under his father in the office of Public Opinion. After completing his apprenticeship he served as clerk in the Chambersburg post office under Postmaster Curriden, 1884-86, and held clerkships in the offices of the Cumberland Valley Railroad, 1886-99. He was appointed assistant postmaster at Chambersburg, March 1, 1899. He was a Mason, and a member of the Knights of Pythias, the Heptasophs and the Elks. He served as Vice Grand Chancellor of the Pennsylvania Grand Lodge, Knights of Pythias, and became Grand Chancellor in August, 1904. As captain and drill master of the Junior Hose and Truck company, he enabled the company to win prizes for excellency in drill at a number of State firemen's conventions.
