She was educated in the public schools of North Union township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, and at a select school in Uniontown one mile from her home, walking the distance each way every day regardless of the weather, ten months each year for five years. She remained at the homestead farm until the death of her father, then with her aged and widowed mother took up a residence in Uniontown, where she was the devoted daughter and faithful attendant until death claimed Mrs. Foster at the age of eighty-two years. Miss Foster continued her home in Uniontown, at 71 Connellsville street. She was a member of the Second Presbyterian church, and a charter member of Union Grange, No. 1103, Patrons of Husbandry, in which she filled several of the chairs, except the highest.
