General Notes: Husband - Samuel D. Foster

Until he was eleven years old he lived on the old home farm, then until the age of twenty-three years in Washington County, Pennsylvania. Removing to Pittsburgh, he was in the government employ around the garrison, and after his marriage settled at Smith's Mills, Washington County, on a farm. Later he was engaged in the mercantile business for a time at Beallsville, and in 1834 purchased the farm on which he died. On this farm were about twenty acres of coal land, which he worked, and sold in McKeesport. He was a strict temperance man, and a ruling elder of the Associate Reformed Church at Turtle Creek, later at McKeesport.
