General Notes: Husband - Isaiah N. Frazier

He grew to manhood in Butler County, Pennsylvania, but shortly after in 1850, was engaged in mercantile business in Allegheny City, Pennsylvania, having a store on Federal street. He later was in business in Springfield, Missouri, thence going to Iowa City, Iowa, where for several years he was in the dry goods business and conducted a land office. He returned east at the time of the early oil discoveries and became heavily interested in oil production; was connected with many of the important enterprises and possessed a substantial estate. He was owner of the Cherry Run oil well, which was sold to Reed, of Sewickley, Pennsylvania. Afterward he drilled and owned in 1864 the Frazier well, which was also known as the United States well, which was the first oil well in Pithole, Pennsylvania, yielding six hundred and fifty barrels per day. He was a Democrat in political faith and in religious belief affiliated with the United Presbyterian church.
