General Notes: Husband - Dominick Fry

After completing a common school education he learned the trade of tinner, which he followed in his native land and also in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, where he located upon his arrival in America. In addition to tinning he engaged in carpentering and cabinet-making, deriving a lucrative livelihood therefrom. Subsequently he purchased the distillery which for many years thereafter was operated under the name of Fry & Mathias, but later disposed of it and removed to McKeesport. In 1877 he returned to Penn township, purchased his former distillery, and entered into partnership with Jacob Mathias, and they continued the same until the death of Mr. Fry, after which his interest was purchased by his partner, Mr. Mathias. Mr. Fry was a member of the German Reformed church, took an active interest in religious work, and materially assisted not only his own but various other churches of different denominations. He was a Democrat in politics, took an active part in political campaigns, and exerted a powerful influence in behalf of the interests of the party whose principles he advocated.
