General Notes: Husband - Daniel Charles Shirey

He passed his childhood in his native place, and after attending the local public schools for his education, he became engaged in business as a miller and for thirty years made that his principal occupation. He was the owner of the old Keenan Mill, built by John Keenan in the year 1818, and this old structure he fitted up with a full equipment of modern machinery, and there conducted a very successful business. He also was the owner of a saw mill, and from 1899 devoted his chief attention to the cutting and manufacture of lumber, in which he employed from eight to twelve men. His mill turned out on an average of one million feet of lumber annually.
He was a staunch Republican in politics, like his father before him, and in religious belief was affiliated with the Lutheran church.
