General Notes: Husband - Benjamin Rush Marchand

He read medicine with his uncle, Dr. Louis Marchand, with whom he made his home after the death of his father in 1822. He began the practice of medicine in Madison, Westmoreland County, PA, in 1824, the year following removing to Jacksonville, where he resided and practiced until his death.

Benjamin Rush Marchand was undoubtedly one of the most notable men Westmoreland County has ever owned, upright, sincere, a well rounded character, who has left an indellible impression on the section of the county where his life was spent.
