General Notes: Husband - James Fulton


He learned and followed cabinet making, but devoted his whole time to undertaking, for many years supplying coffins, when needed, to the whole neighborhood for ten and fifteen miles around. In 1822, he erected the first carding machine ever seen in that part of Butler County. It was propelled by horsepower. For a dozen miles around, people brought their wool there to be converted into rolls.
