General Notes: Husband - John Lindsay

He was one of the pioneers of French Creek township, Venango County, Pennsylvania.
In 1800, John Lindsey built a saw and grist mill on Mill creek. [HVC 1879, 553] The mill was built in 1804 or 1805. [HVC 1879, 595]
John Lindsey built a mill on Mill creek at quite an early date, but it was abandoned after a time, for want of water. [HVC 1879, 596]

He was an early settler on Mill creek, the date of his arrival being about the year 1799 or 1800. He was also an Irishman, and claimed to have been the pioneer mill builder of French creek, having erected a small flouring mill above it, where Utica now stands, as early as 1804. It was while cutting ice from around the large water wheel of this mill that he afterward met with a violent death by falling among some timbers, which closing together caught his neck so that he was left hanging and died.
