He was a native of County Down, Ireland, and settled in Muddy Creek township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, late in the eighteenth or early in the nineteenth century. He purchased a tract of 400 acres of land, erected on it a log house, and resided there the remainder of his life. The site of his home was later the property of Henderson Wilson.
