General Notes: Husband - Maj. James Crawford

He was born in Hanover township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, but in 1770 was a resident of Northumberland County, living along the west branch of the Susquehanna. He was a member of the convention of July, 1776, which framed the first constitution of Pennsylvania and served in the revolution. He was commissioned major, October 8, 1776, of Colonel William Cook's regiment of the Pennsylvania line. He resigned October 12, 1777, on account of being deprived of his rank, but proposed to serve through the contest at his own expense. Afterwards he filled the offices of sheriff, commissioner and justice of the peace.
