General Notes: Husband - Dr. James H. Kelly, M.D.


His initial education was acquired in the local public schools, and he then attended the academy at Saltsburg, Pennsylvania. He taught in the public schools for a time and then took up the study of medicine, reading at Saltsburg under the preceptorship of the late Dr. H. G. Lomison, later of Greensburg. He attended Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, one year, and completed his medical studies at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan. He established himself in his profession in Cherry Tree, where he practiced for several years. He located at Pleasant Unity in 1863, and practiced there with marked success for over thirty years.


General Notes: Wife - Nancy Horton Gamble


She was an active and consistent member of the Presbyterian church at Pleasant Unity, Pennsylvania, identified with the work of the Woman's Missionary Society in the local, church and in Redstone Presbytery, and was active in the Women's Christian Temperance Union work in local and county circles.
