General Notes: Husband - Samuel Winfield Wilson

He was educated in the public schools, continuing his studies until 1863, when in July he enlisted in the Second Battalion, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, for a term of six months. He was honorably discharged in January, 1864. He then engaged in business with his father and was admitted a partner in the lumber department of the latter's extensive opera­tions. This partnership existed until the death of Samuel Wilson in 1879. After that S. W. Wilson continued his extensive business operations under different partnerships and alone. He had, in addition to his lumber busi­ness, large oil and gas interests, which he has successfully managed for many years. He was president of the First National Bank of Clar­ion, the oldest financial institution in the bor­ough, chartered January 18, 1865. He was a Republican in politics.
