Of German birth, Henry Garlow established this line in the United States, making his home in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. After coming to this country was first employed as a miner, in 1869 purchasing a farm near Unity Station, Pennsylvania, where he resided until his death. He was a member of the German Lutheran church, and supported the Republican party.
