General Notes: Husband - Benjamin W. Garvin

He was born on the family homestead in Cranberry township, Butler County, PA, and was reared a farmer. Being the eldest in the family, much of the labors on the farm fell to his lot, and he was therefore deprived of the advantages of an education. Politically, he was a stanch Republican, and served as school director in his district. He and his wife were members of Plains Presbyterian church, and were generous contributors towards that organization. He became the owner of 130 acres of highly improved land, containing several oil wells, and erected one of the most substantial residences in that section of the county.
