General Notes: Husband - Baxter R. Ramsey

He attended the public schools of Cranberry Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, but the death of his father, when he was only fourteen years of age, placed heavy responsibilities on him. He took charge of the home farm and continued to manage for many years. He had sixty-three acres of excellent farming land and had two producing oil wells. He had other business interests and was a stockholder in the Bury & Markle hardware store at Evans City.

He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church at Evans City, Pennsylvania. In politics, like his father and grandfather, he was a stanch Democrat. For some years he served as school director and was also a member of the board of elections in his district. He belonged to the Knights of Pythias lodge at Evans City and to Grange No. 908, Patrons of Husbandry, of which his wife was also a member.
