General Notes: Husband - John H. Herpst

In 1830 he left Union County, PA, removed to Beaver township, Venango County (later Clarion County). While living there eighteen years, he cleared a farm of one hundred and twenty acres. His next location was on the Susquehanna and Waterford Turnpike, where he kept a hotel, called the “Stone House Tavern.” After a residence of four years, and two years farming on the Gates place, he removed into Scrubgrass township, Venango County. Here he purchased a tract of land and was engaged in agricultural pursuits till his location, 1865, in Oil City. [HVC 1879, 538]

He and his wife had thirteen children, seven of whom were still living in 1879.
