General Notes: Husband - Hugh Gibb

He was an early settler of Butler County, PA, and lived on what was known as the Robert Stevenson farm. He was better situated, financially, than many of his neighbors, having considerable means when he settled, and was therefore able to go back to Westmoreland County occasionally and buy supplies of groceries. He was one of the few men in the neighborhood who were not drafted during the war of 1812, and it was his custom to ride around to his neighbors’ houses frequently during the winter to see that none of the families suffered for want of the necessaries of life.
