He graduated from Jefferson College, Cannonsburg, Pennsylvania; studied law with Hon. George M. Dallas, Jr., and Hon. William A. Porter, of Philadelphia; was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in that city, but his health failing he removed to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he died.
