General Notes: Husband - Andrew Giffen

He was born on the homestead farm in Mount Pleasant township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, was reared and resided all his lifetime thereon. He was educated in the subscription schools, and his time and attention after the completion of his studies was entirely given to agricultural pursuits. He was industrious, painstaking, and progressive in his methods, and consequently his acres yielded plentiful harvests, enabling him to provide a comfortable home for his family and a competency for his declining years. He was a member and elder for many years in the Presbyterian church, and frequently represented his church at both the Presbytery and Synod.
