General Notes: Husband - John Walter Gillan

He kept the toll-gate on the Gettysburg turnpike, near Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. He was an active Prohibitionist. He served as a private in Company H, 126th P. V. I., during the Civil war, and was engaged in the battles of Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville-the only two battles in which that regiment took part.
