General Notes: Husband - Peter Gillespie


He was educated in the public schools of Coultersville, Pennsylvania, and after leaving school learned the carpenter's trade. In 1876 he went to Pittsburgh, where he was for some years engaged in business as a contractor and builder. He served multiple terms as school director of the Twenty-third ward; he was also a member of the central board of education. He belonged to the Masonic fraternity, the Junior Order of United American Mechanics, and the Grand Fraternal Insurance. Politically he was a Republican. He and his wife were members of the Mary S. Brown Memorial Methodist Episcopal church of the Twenty-third ward.
