General Notes: Husband - John P. Shull

He attended what was known as the old Ray School in his boyhood, and after a reasonable time there he went to Franklin in Venango County, Pennsylvania, where, when seventeen years of age, he started to learn the bricklayers' trade which he found a satisfactory and profitable one. For many years he was in partnership in general brick contracting, with Frank W. Badger, and in 1903 they bought out the brick manufacturing plant of Reed & Company. Both members of the firm were men of recognized reliability and they had a large volume of business. They divided their labors, Mr. Shull looking after the manufacture of the brick, and Mr. Badger after the contracts. A large number of Butler's substantial buildings were erected by their firm, among them were: The Poor Farm building; the Butler County General Hospital; the Y. M. C. A. building; J. G. & W. Campbell's hardware store; the Koch building; and the I. O. O. F. Temple.
He and his wife were members of the United Presbyterian Church at Butler.
