He was a dairy farmer and mushroom grower, a lover of nature and history and collector of Indian artifacts. For a number of years he bred and raised homing pigeons.


General Notes: Wife - Marion Clarabel Gilmore


She studied music at Grove City College and the Erie Conservatory of Music while growing up, continuing her education at Peabody Institute in Baltimore, MD, and the University of Delaware. She gave private piano lessons, taught at the Sanford School, Hockessin, DE, as well as being Official Liaison, working with the outstanding independent schools of the area. Other interests were participating in a bridge club, membership in the Soroptimists Club, Waverley Club, a literary group, and the Newark New Century Club. She was the organizing regent of the Captain William McKennan Chapter, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the first regent of this chapter.
