Another source states that this person was the son of John C. and Margaret (Hoffman) Gilmore.

He obtained his early and preparatory education in the public schools of the township, attending Grove City College. He then entered the Western University of Pennsylvania (later the University of Pittsburgh) whence he was graduated from the medical department M. D., 1894. While attaining his college and university education and preparing for the practice of medicine, he taught seven years in the public schools. After securing his degree Dr. Gilmore located in Wesley, Pennsylvania, for a short time, then moved to Clintonville, where he was in successful practice for about ten years. In 1904 he located in Emlenton. He was a member and ex-president of the Venango County Medical Society, member of the State Medical Society, and was held in high esteem among his professional brethren, and had the confidence of the entire community. He was an active Republican, and served as school director and burgess of Clintonville, also burgess of Emlenton. He was a member of Emlenton Lodge No. 644, Independent Order of Odd Fellows; Franklin Lodge No. 110, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks; Oil City Lodge No. 68, Loyal Order of Moose; Emlenton Lodge No. 111, Knights of the Maccabees; Camp No. 6143, Modern Woodmen of America, at Emlenton; Central Encampment No. 206, I. O. O. F., Foxburg, Pennsylvania. He was physician for the Maccabees and Woodmen, and was an attendant of the Methodist Episcopal church. [GPHAV, 361]
